Ramboll, a global architecture, engineering and consultancy company, was awarded a contract with the Danish Trade Council of the Royal Danish Embassy in Singapore to conduct a number of energy surveys for commercial buildings across Southeast Asia. The project aims to identify pathways and solutions to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in the region’s commercial sector, contributing significantly to the region’s decarbonisation efforts.
Ramboll has now conducted six on-site energy surveys for hotel and office buildings in Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. The data gathered on energy consumption and installation efficiency help identify potential savings through a diverse range of technical solutions, promoting a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for the region.
Mark Perry, Head of Trade at the Royal Danish Embassy in Malaysia, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with leading Danish companies such as Ramboll on this meaningful and impactful project. By identifying significant energy and cost-saving opportunities in commercial buildings, particularly hotels and office spaces, we aim to deliver holistic energy solutions. Our approach focuses on a suite of technical solutions rather than isolated components, ensuring maximum efficiency. Furthermore, by emphasizing replicability across similar building types, we strive to unlock additional capital for widespread energy efficiency improvements.”
Ramboll’s project team, consisting of senior energy expert Ms. Anne Svendsen from Denmark and experts Ramboll’s office in Singapore, combines globally leading expertise in environmental and sustainable design, energy efficiency, heat ventilation and cooling systems with deep local understanding.
Lars Hedegaard Jepsen, Head of Department at Ramboll Denmark: “We are thrilled to partner with the Royal Danish Embassy in Singapore on this important initiative. Our goal is to provide actionable insights and solutions that will help commercial buildings in Southeast Asia become more energy-efficient and sustainable.”
By collaborating with building owners and developers, Ramboll aims to deliver insightful findings and actionable recommendations to foster sustainable practices and boost energy efficiency in the commercial sector. The project is expected to be completed over the next 4 months.
