How Nina is closing the gap

Nina thrives in a flexible and supportive environment that allows her to deliver resilient solutions for industry clients — while balancing a fulfilling life outside of work.

“Flexibility at work, impact for the future”

When Nina Roland Simonsen joined Ramboll, she was driven by a wish to contribute to the green transition of industry and promote nature-positive solutions. Wanting bigger projects, deeper challenges, and the chance to make a real difference, she found that opportunity here.

“I wanted to move things forward,” she recalls. “At Ramboll, I can work on projects that really matter — and use my expertise within animal science to help build more sustainable and resilient industries.”

Today, Nina works across a wide range of industrial projects. Her tasks include environmental assessments, complex air quality modelling, environmental permitting and due diligence. Some of these projects may not always look sustainable at first glance, but Nina and the team ensure that sustainability is built into the process. “We often deal with projects that aren’t ‘green’ by definition,” she says. “But my role is to push them in a more sustainable and responsible direction – to make sure industry becomes cleaner, smarter, and more resilient.”

Trust, flexibility, and growth

What has made the biggest difference in Nina’s career at Ramboll is not only the projects, but the culture.

“It’s the trust,” she says. “From day one, I was given responsibility and the chance to show what I could do. That gave me confidence and motivation.”

That trust also extends to flexibility — something Nina values deeply as she balances professional ambitions with family life.

“Flexibility means I can keep developing my career, take on exciting projects, and still have time for my kids.”

She believes that flexibility isn’t just a perk — it’s part of Ramboll’s culture. “You’re trusted to plan your time in the way that works best for you and the team.”

A global community of bright and kind colleagues

For Nina, collaboration is Ramboll’s greatest strength. Across projects and borders, she knows there’s always someone to turn to.

“No matter how specific a client’s question might be, there’s always someone in Ramboll who has the answer — and who’s willing to help. That mix of expertise and openness is rare, and it makes a huge difference.”

She has seen this through both technical networks and young professional communities. “The connections across teams and countries are invaluable. They help solve problems faster, but they also create a sense of belonging. You’re part of a global community of bright minds who genuinely want to make a change.”

Closing the gap

For Nina, closing the gap to a sustainable future is about making a difference where it matters most — even in complex industries.

“Of course, we can’t change everything overnight. But every time we make a project cleaner, every time we safeguard biodiversity or improve air quality, it adds up. That’s the impact I’m proud of.”

And with trust, flexibility, and collaboration at the heart of her work, Nina feels confident about the future. “I know I can grow my career, be there for my family, and work on impactful projects. That’s the balance that keeps me motivated.”
